Against all Odds: Honest Gombe Teacher Returns #300,000 Lost at Workshop.

By Our Correspondent
A primary school teacher from Fage Primary School, Deba, in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim, has demonstrated an exceptional act of honesty and integrity by returning a sum of ₦300,000 he found during a training workshop.
The incident took place at Liji Primary School, the venue for a capacity-building workshop organized by the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), under the CLUSTER training initiative aimed at improving the capacity of selected teachers in the state.
According to eyewitnesses, Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim discovered the money on April 15, 2025, during the course of the training. Rather than keeping it, he took the money home with the intent of ensuring it got back to its rightful owner. On the following day, April 16, he returned to the venue and handed over the money, which was later identified and confirmed to belong to a fellow participant who had misplaced it in the classroom.
Eyewitness Comrade Usman Abdullahi, who spoke to Daily Facts, commended Malam Abdullahi for his rare display of honesty, especially at a time when the country is facing severe economic hardship. “In a period where many are struggling to meet daily needs, this teacher’s action is worthy of national recognition,” he said.
Comrade Usman has since called on the Yamaltu Deba Local Government Council, the Gombe State Government, and the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to honor Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim with a certificate of commendation or award as a way of encouraging integrity in public service.
He also urged the general public to take a cue from Malam Abdullahi’s exemplary behavior, stressing that integrity and honesty are core values that must be upheld by all, regardless of status or circumstances.
This act of uprightness by Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim serves as a powerful reminder that even in difficult times, there are still individuals who choose principle over personal gain.
