Gombe Chief Imam Warns Youths Against Intoxicants, Cites Islamic Prohibition

The Chief Imam of Masjid Ummah Jummat Mosque, Sheikh Dalhat Tukur Muhammad, has strongly warned against the use of intoxicating substances, emphasizing their prohibition in Islam during his Friday sermon at Aliyu Modibbo Street, Gombe.
Islamic Teachings on Intoxication
Sheikh Muhammad reiterated that any substance that causes intoxication—such as alcohol, mead, or drugs—is considered haram (forbidden) in Islam. He cautioned against attempts to justify or label such substances as permissible, stating that doing so contradicts clear Islamic teachings.
He expressed deep concern over the rising use of intoxicants among youths, noting the severe health and social consequences of addiction. Quoting relevant Hadiths, the Imam reminded the congregation of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) clear stance against intoxication.
Sheikh Muhammad further urged the faithful to avoid all actions and substances that could lead to personal or communal harm, calling for a commitment to virtuous and disciplined living in line with Islamic principles.
The sermon concluded with Sheikh Muhammad leading the congregational Jummat prayers.
