Gombe State Police Command Mourns Loss of Senior Officer, ASP Yusuf Balami

The Gombe State Police Command is in mourning following the passing of one of its senior officers, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusuf Balami. ASP Balami, who had been battling a prolonged illness, passed away today at the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) in Gombe while receiving medical treatment.
ASP Yusuf Balami was a highly regarded officer within the command. At the time of his death, he was serving as the Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, a role he fulfilled with dedication and professionalism.
The late ASP Balami’s funeral is scheduled for today, 30th September 2024. The burial will take place at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe at 11:00 AM. Colleagues, friends, and family members are expected to gather to pay their last respects to the officer who served the force with honor.

Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sa’eedu Hassan Jingir, has passed away. Sheikh Jingir, who was the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Scholars in the Izala Islamic Movement under the leadership of Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, died at his residence in Jos after a prolonged illness.
His funeral is scheduled to take place today at his home in Anguwar Rimi, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sheikh Sa’eedu Hassan Jingir was widely respected for his deep knowledge of Islam and his contributions to religious education in Nigeria. As a key figure in the Izala Movement, he played a significant role in promoting Islamic teachings and guiding the Muslim community. His passing marks a great loss to the Islamic scholarly community in Nigeria.

In a heartfelt expression of grief, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has mourned the passing of Alhaji Muhammadu Gidado, known as Libidin Gombe, a senior traditional titleholder in the Gombe Emirate. Libidi, who was a close confidant of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, passed away yesterday in Gombe after a protracted illness.
Governor Yahaya conveyed his deep sadness and described the late Libidin Gombe as a paragon of wisdom and a stalwart in upholding the esteemed traditions and values of the Gombe Emirate. In his condolence message, the Governor highlighted Libidi’s invaluable counsel and leadership, which had a profound impact on the Emirate and the broader community.
“The death of Libidin Gombe is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire Gombe Emirate and the state at large,” said Governor Yahaya. “As one of the close confidants of the Emir of Gombe, Libidi’s counsel and leadership were invaluable, making him one of the shining lights of the Emirate. His contributions to the Emirate and his community were immeasurable, and his legacy of selfless service will continue to be remembered.”
Governor Yahaya extended his deepest condolences to the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, the bereaved Libidi family, and the Emirate Council. He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus and to give his family the strength to bear this great loss.
Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House in Gombe, also echoed the Governor’s statements, underscoring the significant void left by Libidi’s passing in the Emirate and the state.
