Governor Zulum Distributes N1 Billion to Entrepreneurs, Launches Housing Project for Teachers and Health Workers

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has approved the distribution of N1 billion in grants to approximately 9,403 micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs (MSMEs) in Biu and Hawul Local Government Areas.
The initiative aims to boost local businesses, stimulate the economy, and alleviate poverty.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Governor Zulum personally oversaw the disbursement of N560.3 million to 5,603 entrepreneurs in Biu and another local government area, with each recipient receiving N100,000. Additionally, N439.7 million was allocated to 1,800 youth and vulnerable families in Biu and 2,000 entrepreneurs in Hawul.
“My administration is committed to supporting small and medium enterprises and empowering our youth,” Governor Zulum stated.
“We are focusing on SMEs to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and ensure that our youthful population is gainfully engaged.”
He urged beneficiaries to use the grants effectively and emphasized that the disbursement was in fulfillment of his campaign promises. He also encouraged young people to develop business ideas, assuring them of continued government support.
Furthermore, Governor Zulum directed the Borno State Social Investment Management Programme (BOSIMP) to identify and screen an additional 2,000 vulnerable youth for future disbursements.
Housing Project for Teachers and Health Workers
In a separate development, Governor Zulum laid the foundation for the construction of 600 two-bedroom semi-detached houses for teachers and health workers across five locations in Borno State.
“We are building 100 houses each in Biu, Magumeri, Hawul, and Gubio for teachers, and 200 houses at the Borno State University Teaching Hospital for health workers,” the governor announced.
Each housing estate will include essential facilities such as clinics, road and drainage networks, sporting centers, and other social infrastructure.
The ceremonies were attended by prominent figures, including APC Chairman Bello Ayuba, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Emir of Biu Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, and other government officials and community leaders.
“These projects demonstrate our commitment to improving the lives of our citizens and supporting vital sectors like education and healthcare,” a government spokesperson stated.

PDP Reps Member Aliyu Garu Distributes N78m Food Items to Bauchi Constituents

The Member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Aliyu Aminu Garu, has distributed food items worth seventy-eight million naira to his constituents as part of efforts to support Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, Alhaji Aliyu Aminu Garu said the gesture forms part of his annual intervention programme aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by members of the Muslim community during the fasting period.
The lawmaker, who was represented by his Campaign Director, Alhaji Danladi Danbaba, stated that the items distributed included 800 bags of 25kg rice, 2,800 bags of 10kg rice, 1,000 cartons of spaghetti, 50 bags of sugar, 400 pieces of shadda and 400 pieces of wrappers.
He explained that the initiative underscores his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, particularly during spiritually significant periods such as Ramadan, which calls for charity, compassion and community support.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi Local Government Area, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mamman Zodo, commended the lawmaker for the gesture. He described the support as timely and prayed to Allah to grant him continued success in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities.
Beneficiaries of the distribution included youth and women groups, party supporters and other residents drawn from across the constituency.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for what they described as a thoughtful and impactful intervention, urging him to sustain the initiative to provide succour to Muslims during the fasting period.
The distribution exercise attracted party stakeholders, community leaders and supporters, many of whom lauded the lawmaker’s consistency in reaching out to constituents through humanitarian initiatives.

Senator Buba Launches Free Fertiliser Distribution For Bauchi South Farmers

Senator Shehu Buba Umar of Bauchi South Senatorial District on Sunday flagged off the distribution of seven trucks of fertiliser to local farmers.
Speaking at the ceremony in Bauchi, Senator Buba said the initiative is designed to bolster agricultural productivity and enhance crop yields across the district.
He emphasised that this substantial investment underscores his commitment to food security and the economic well-being of Bauchi South’s farming communities.
Senator Buba thanked the distribution committee and urged them to ensure the fertiliser reaches genuine farmers fairly and transparently.
Many beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to Senator Buba and pledged to use the fertiliser judiciously to maximize their yields.

Bauchi Reps Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu Distributes Over 500 Solar Lights to Constituents

The Member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu, has distributed over 500 solar-powered streetlights to various communities within his constituency.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Hon. Garu stated that the initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to improve rural electrification, enhance security, and support small-scale businesses that operate at night.
He emphasized that the project addresses the challenge of inadequate lighting, particularly in underserved areas.
According to him, expanding access to solar energy will significantly enhance safety and promote socio-economic activities in both urban and rural communities.
Hon. Garu reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing people-centered initiatives that directly benefit his constituents.
Also speaking at the event, the PDP Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Alhaji Inuwa Aliyu Durbin Inkil, commended the lawmaker for consistently making the party proud through impactful representation.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the gesture as both timely and impactful.
This intervention adds to a growing list of developmental projects facilitated by the lawmaker in recent years, including road construction, school renovations, provision of boreholes, educational support, and healthcare programs.
