A governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Gombe State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, popularly known as “Hamsal Airline,” has officially submitted his Letter of Intent to contest the 2027 governorship election.

Hamma Saleh presented the letter on Wednesday during a visit to the PDP State Secretariat in Gombe, where he led a delegation of supporters and members of the Hamsal Project 2027 campaign team.

The delegation was led by former Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area, Honorable Danladi Garba, alongside political associates and supporters of the aspirant.

The submission of the Letter of Intent marks the formal declaration of Hamma Saleh’s ambition to contest for the governorship seat of Gombe State under the platform of the PDP in the 2027 general election.

Speaking during the event, Hamma Saleh reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the PDP, pledging continued support for the growth and success of the party in Gombe State.

He appreciated party executives at the ward, local government, and state levels for their sacrifices and dedication toward strengthening the PDP across the state.

The aspirant also commended former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, describing him as a leader who has continued to provide direction and support for the party in Gombe State.

Hamma Saleh said he would remain a loyal member of the PDP and continue supporting the party at all levels.

The delegation was received by top party officials and stakeholders, including the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Honorable Dan’azumi Adamu, who represented the State Chairman, Major General A. M. Kwaskebe, retired, the State Secretary, Alhaji Adamu Haruna Abubakar, Chairman of the PDP Elders Forum, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Magaji, as well as local government party chairmen and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, the PDP State Secretary, Alhaji Adamu Haruna Abubakar, welcomed Hamma Saleh and members of his campaign team, describing the visit as a positive development for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

He stated that the PDP in Gombe State remains fully prepared for the 2027 general election and urged members to remain united and committed to ensuring the party’s success.

Also speaking, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Honorable Dan’azumi Adamu, expressed appreciation to Hamma Saleh for formally presenting his Letter of Intent to the party.

He called on the aspirant to continue working for the unity, growth, and success of the PDP across all levels in the state.

In his closing remarks, Chairman of the PDP Elders Forum in Gombe State, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Magaji, expressed confidence that the PDP would regain its past glory and record victories in future elections.

He commended Hamma Saleh for presenting himself before the party and wished him success in his political ambition.

The party officially accepted the Letter of Intent and offered prayers for the aspirant’s political journey.

The political landscape of Gombe State shifted significantly this week as Hajiya Sa’adatu Sa’ad Mustapha officially threw her hat into the ring for the 2027 gubernatorial race, becoming the first and only woman to seek the state’s highest office in the current cycle.

A seasoned administrator and a former Commissioner for Environment and Forest Resources, Mustapha formally submitted her letter of intent to the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a bold challenge to the traditional male-dominated political order.

Known affectionately by her traditional title, Alkebbar Kaltungo, the aspirant hails from the Kaltungo Local Government Area and brings a formidable resume to the contest.

Having served as the Director General of Protocol and Facility Management under the incumbent administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, her declaration is seen by many as a natural progression of a career dedicated to public service.

Her entry into the race has immediately energized discussions surrounding gender inclusion and representative governance in the North-East region.

Addressing a gathering of supporters and party faithful shortly after her declaration, Mustapha emphasized that her candidacy is rooted in a deep-seated desire to foster a more equitable society.

Former governorship hopeful and respected technocrat, Arc. Yunusa Yakubu, FNIA, popularly known as Dan-Madamin Deba, has indicated that he is not likely to contest in the forthcoming Gombe State gubernatorial race, despite growing calls from supporters and political stakeholders urging him to join the contest.

In a statement made available to journalists, Arc. Yunusa Yakubu expressed appreciation to individuals and groups across the state who had encouraged him to vie for the governorship position, describing the calls as a strong reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership capacity and commitment to the development of Gombe State.

The architect and politician said he had carefully reflected on the increasing appeals and consulted widely before arriving at his decision.

“Recently, I have keenly observed and listened as voices from across the state, amplified through the media and other channels, called on me to join the gubernatorial race in Gombe State. These expressions, coming from diverse groups and individuals, have not gone unnoticed, and I have taken time to reflect deeply on them,” he stated.

He appreciated all those who reached out to encourage him to contest, noting that such calls were not taken lightly.

“I sincerely appreciate every single person who has encouraged and urged me to consider offering myself for this important responsibility. Such calls are a reflection of the confidence you have in my capacity, experience, and commitment to provide purposeful leadership for our dear state,” he added.

Arc. Yunusa also apologized to associates and supporters who may have felt left out during the consultations and political developments surrounding the calls for him to contest.

“I wish to tender my sincere apologies to those who may have felt concerned that they were not directly contacted in the course of these developments. This was never borne out of pride or disregard. Rather, it was because I was carefully reviewing the situation,” he explained.

After extensive consultations and review of the political situation, he disclosed that he may not likely participate in the 2027 governorship contest, while reaffirming his commitment to the growth and progress of Gombe State.

“After a deep review of these calls, the prevailing situation, and the consultations I made widely, I wish to respectfully and regrettably convey that I may not likely be contesting in the forthcoming gubernatorial race. However, I remain committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of Gombe State in whatever capacity,” he said.

The former aspirant further called on his supporters, political associates, and well-wishers to align themselves with the direction of the ruling party and the decision of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He urged all party loyalists to uphold unity and continue supporting the administration in the interest of peace, stability, and progress in the state.

“I call on all my well-wishers, supporters, and those who have shown confidence in me to respect and align with the direction of our great party, as well as the decision of our leader, His Excellency Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON. I urge everyone to continue supporting and upholding this collective decision wholeheartedly in the spirit of unity and progress that binds us together,” the statement concluded.
