Gombe State to Recruit 2,000 Youths Into Newly Established Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps

The Gombe State has announced the commencement of recruitment into the newly institutionalized Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC), with 2,000 positions available for qualified indigenes.

The initiative, approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, follows his recent signing of the GOSTEC law, which formally established the corps as a permanent agency responsible for environmental protection, traffic control, and community safety across the state.

Announcing the exercise on Thursday, September 18, the Director-General of GOSTEC, ACP Bappa Ibrahim (Rtd), said the recruitment drive was a strategic step to professionalize and expand the corps in line with the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment, public order, and sustainable development.

According to him, the exercise will target three categories of applicants:

1. Officer Cadre – for holders of university degrees or Higher National Diplomas (HND).

2. Middle Cadre – for holders of National Certificates in Education (NCE) or Ordinary National Diplomas (OND).

3. Junior Cadre – for candidates with Senior Secondary School Certificates.

Interested applicants are required to submit handwritten applications accompanied by photocopies of academic credentials and a letter of recommendation from either their Ward Head, District Head, Local Government Chairman, or Divisional Police Officer (DPO). All submissions must be made at the applicants’ respective local government headquarters.

The recruitment exercise officially opens on Friday, September 19, 2025, and will close on Friday, September 26, 2025. Late entries, according to the DG, will not be entertained.

“This exercise is designed not just to strengthen GOSTEC as an institution, but also to create opportunities for the youth of Gombe State to actively contribute to community development, environmental protection, and the promotion of peace and order,” ACP Ibrahim said.

The corps is expected to play a crucial role in addressing challenges of traffic management, environmental sanitation, and neighborhood security, complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies in the state.
