Concerned Youths Demand Sack of FCT Minister Wike Over Alleged Abuse of Naval Officer

Group accuses Wike of intimidation, calls for nationwide protest
A civil society organization under the umbrella of Concerned Youths for Nigerian Development and Good Governance (CYNDGG) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over what it described as an act of intimidation and abuse against a serving Naval officer.
In a statement signed in Abuja by the President of the group, Alhassan Muhammad Umar, the Secretary, Emma Chidi, and 15 other executive members, the organization accused Wike of disrespecting and humiliating a uniformed officer who, according to them, “has sacrificed his comfort and safety in the service of Nigeria.”
The group condemned the minister’s alleged conduct, saying it was unbecoming of a public servant who occupies such a sensitive position in the federal cabinet.
> “It is unacceptable for a minister to intimidate or verbally abuse a military officer who is carrying out his lawful duties. This attitude does not reflect the values of good leadership or respect for national institutions,” the statement read in part.
The youth group further urged Nigerians to peacefully demonstrate in demand for Wike’s removal, saying his alleged behavior portrays a lack of maturity and decorum expected from a federal minister.
> “We are calling on all patriotic Nigerians, civil society organizations, and youth groups to join hands in demanding justice and accountability. Mr. Wike’s actions show that he lacks the manners and temperament to relate with citizens or officers serving the nation,” the statement added.
While calling on President Tinubu to take “urgent disciplinary action” to preserve the integrity of his administration, the group warned that continued tolerance of such behavior could undermine public confidence in government officials.
Efforts to reach the FCT Minister’s media office for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.

By Our Political Reporter
A support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State has called on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the leadership of the party in the state to consider Hajiya Dr. Fatima Binta Bello as the party’s senatorial candidate for Gombe South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made during a meeting held in Kalmai Ward, Billiri LGA, where members drawn from the 10 wards of the local government gathered to deliberate on the political future of the zone.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the group, Umar Adamu, alongside other prominent members including Hon. Mela Hamma (Igwe), Ibrahim Manu, Bushura Muhammad, Ishaya Sambo, Ruth Hassan Haruna, Christopher Muhammad and Hon. Haris Muhammad Tanko, said the call was based on Dr. Bello’s track record of service and performance in various public offices.
The group noted that Dr. Fatima Binta Bello had served meritoriously as a commissioner, member representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, and currently as the Executive Chairperson of Shongom Local Government Council. According to them, her experience and grassroots connection position her as a strong contender capable of delivering victory for the APC in Gombe South.
“We believe that bringing Hajiya Dr. Fatima Binta Bello as the APC senatorial candidate in 2027 is the only viable solution for consolidating the party’s strength in Gombe South. Her popularity and achievements will give the APC a landslide victory in the district,” the group stated.
They further appealed to Governor Inuwa Yahaya and the state leadership of the APC to carefully consider their request in the interest of party unity, inclusiveness, and sustained development in the senatorial zone.
The meeting ended with a pledge by members of the support group to mobilize at the grassroots level across Billiri and the wider Gombe South Senatorial District in support of the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
The call adds to the growing political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as stakeholders across Gombe State begin early consultations and strategic alignments.
