18 Izala Volunteers Escape Death in Gombe Auto Crash While Returning from Bauchi Outreach

No fewer than 18 members of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), popularly known as Izala, Gombe State chapter, narrowly escaped death following a motor accident while returning from Bauchi State.

The incident occurred at the Gabas–Alkaleri Bypass Junction, on the outskirts of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State. The volunteers were reportedly returning from a Volunteer Outreach Camp held in Bauchi when the accident happened.

Eyewitnesses told Daily Fact that the vehicle, a Hummer bus with an 18-seater capacity, was involved in the crash under circumstances that are yet to be fully explained. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.

Although all the occupants survived, some of the volunteers sustained varying degrees of injuries. They were promptly evacuated to nearby hospitals, including Sunnah Hospital in Gombe, where they received medical attention.

According to available information, 17 of the injured volunteers were treated and discharged after responding well to treatment, while one person remains on admission at Sunnah Hospital, Gombe, and is reported to be in stable condition.

Security agencies and emergency responders were said to have arrived swiftly at the scene of the accident, helping to control the situation, provide first aid, and ensure the safe evacuation of the victims.

Leaders of the Izala group expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for sparing the lives of the volunteers. They also offered prayers for the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of road safety, especially along major highways and bypass junctions in the North-East region.
