Izalah Gombe Holds 2026 Ramadan Seminar, Urges Prayers, Moral Reforms for National Stability

The Gombe State branch of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (Izalah) Islamic Organisation has successfully conducted its 2026 annual Ramadan Seminar, aimed at preparing Islamic scholars to preside over Tafsir sessions across various locations within and outside the state.

Speaking during the seminar, the State Chairman of Izala, Engineer Salisu Muhammad Gombe, explained that the annual exercise is designed to broaden the intellectual capacity of scholars, equip them with contemporary knowledge, and guide them on addressing emerging societal challenges from an Islamic perspective. He noted that the seminar also serves as a platform to pray for divine guidance and national stability.

Engineer Salisu expressed deep sympathy with the government and people of Kano State over the recent brutal killing of an innocent family, as well as the tragic incident in Gombe where a young boy (Yaro) allegedly killed his master. He also condemned the rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes across the country.

According to him, many of these social vices are linked to drug abuse and the negative influence of violent films, calling on government authorities to intensify efforts to curb the menace by arresting not only drug users but also dealers and distributors.

He further urged members of the public not to relent in praying to Almighty Allah for divine intervention over the numerous challenges confronting the nation.

The first paper presentation at the seminar was delivered by Sheikh Muhammad Kabir Bashir from Kano, titled:
“Masu Da’awar Kur’ani Zallah a Najeriya: Rikitarwarsu da Hadarinsu ga Addini da Kasa”
(Claimants of Deviant Qur’anic Ideologies in Nigeria: Their Confusion and Danger to Religion and the Nation).

In his address, the Chairman of the Organising Committee and Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Dr. Yusuf Muhammad Abdullahi, emphasized that training and retraining remain critical tools for producing competent and effective scholars. He described Islamic scholars as highly respected members of society and called on participants to give maximum cooperation to ensure the success of the seminar.

Dr. Abdullahi stressed that it is imperative for teachers and scholars to remain informed about modern societal challenges, particularly in areas of technology, communication, and social change, in order to effectively guide the community.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Seminar Committee, Professor Rasheed Abdulganiyyu, disclosed that the number of participants exceeded 700 scholars. He prayed that Allah rewards all individuals and organizations that contributed to the success of the programme and urged participants to impact the knowledge gained during the 2026 Ramadan Tafsir sessions.

The theme of this year’s seminar is “The Qur’an and Social Stability.”

The programme also featured paper presentations by various scholars, focusing on religious enlightenment, moral reformation, and peaceful coexistence in society.

The Gombe State chapter of the Izala Islamic Organization has successfully concluded its 10th Annual Ramadan Tafsir Seminar, aimed at preparing scholars for this year’s Tafsir sessions across the state.

Held at Gombe State University, the seminar was themed “Trust Rendering – An Essential Tool for Social Stability and Development” and attracted participants from all eleven local government areas of the state.

Call for Responsible Preaching

Declaring the seminar open, the Chairman of the Occasion, Justice Abdulhamid Yakubu Doho, urged scholars to uphold the sanctity of Islamic teachings by avoiding political statements in their sermons. He emphasized the importance of delivering authentic teachings in line with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The State Chairman of the Izala Organization, Engineer Salisu Muhammad Gombe, reinforced this message, advising scholars to maintain Taqwa (fear of God) and respect the leadership of the organization. He also expressed gratitude to all contributors who ensured the seminar’s success.

Knowledge for Effective Tafsir

According to Engineer Salisu, the seminar was designed to update scholars on national issues and remind them of their responsibilities during the upcoming Ramadan Tafsir. He urged participants to set aside personal interests and instead embrace wisdom and patience in their teachings, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In a goodwill message, the National Deputy Chairman of the Izala Organization, Sheikh Usman Isa Taliyawa, commended the progress of Islamic propagation in the state. He encouraged scholars to apply the knowledge gained in their sermons and everyday interactions.

Training Scholars for Societal Stability

Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Rashid Abdulganiyu, disclosed that this year’s seminar aimed to address current societal challenges through knowledge-sharing among scholars. He noted that the event initially targeted 700 scholars, but attendance exceeded 1,000.

The Emir of Gombe, Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, represented by the Madakin Gombe, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, praised the Izala Organization for its commitment to organizing the seminar annually. He reminded scholars that their responsibility was a divine trust, for which they would be held accountable. The Emir also called on affluent individuals and stakeholders to financially support religious activities, as many Islamic organizations rely on member donations to sustain their programs.

Building Capacity for Ramadan Tafsir

The seminar featured paper presentations by distinguished Islamic scholars and resource persons, focusing on the role of scholars in fostering social stability.

Participants, including Malam Dalhatu Muhammad Tukur from Masjidul Ummah Gombe and Ummulkhari Abubakar from Ni’assunnah, expressed appreciation for the seminar. They highlighted its importance in enhancing scholars’ knowledge and preparation for the upcoming Tafsir sessions.

With the successful completion of the seminar, scholars across Gombe State are now fully equipped to lead Ramadan Tafsir sessions, ensuring that Islamic teachings continue to promote social harmony and moral responsibility.
