The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation has distributed food items and other relief materials worth more than ₦150 million to over 300 Tsangayas, Zawiyyas, Islamic associations and prominent personalities across Gombe State as part of activities commemorating the 2026 Maulud celebration.

The wide-ranging humanitarian intervention, which reached beneficiaries across different parts of the state, is aimed at supporting religious institutions and communities while promoting the spirit of generosity, compassion, solidarity and service associated with the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Among the items distributed were more than 500 bags of 50-kilogramme rice, 462 cartons of spaghetti, 150 packs of bottled water and 500 bags of sachet water.

The Foundation said the distribution was deliberately extended to Tsangayas and Zawiyyas because of their important roles in Islamic education, scholarship and spiritual development, as well as their contribution to the preservation and transmission of religious knowledge.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, representatives of the Foundation, including Malam Usman Gurama, Dr Abubakar Saidu (Dr Yagi), Alhaji Abubakar Walama Sarkin Malaman Gombe and Alhaji Hassan Dan Amar Din Gombe, said the initiative was inspired by the values of compassion, sharing and care for others associated with the Maulud celebration.

They explained that the gesture was not merely about distributing food items, but also about strengthening bonds within communities and supporting institutions and individuals who contribute to religious learning, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.

According to them, Maulud provides an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his emphasis on kindness, generosity, brotherhood and concern for the less privileged.

A members of the distribution committee, Bashir Shuaibu Umar, alongside Malam Ahmad Mandy Abubakar and Muhammad Sulaiman Muhammad, popularly known as Abba Jekadafari, said the intervention reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting religious and educational institutions and providing humanitarian assistance to communities across Gombe State.

They noted that Tsangayas and Zawiyyas remain important centres of Islamic learning and have continued to play a significant role in producing scholars and transmitting religious knowledge from one generation to another.

The committee members also stressed the importance of supporting religious and community leaders, noting that their contributions remain vital to promoting peaceful coexistence, moral values and unity among members of society.

The distribution covered beneficiaries drawn from different communities and institutions across the state, in what the organisers described as an effort to ensure that the impact of the intervention was not restricted to a particular locality.

Some beneficiaries who received the items expressed appreciation to Professor Isa Ali Pantami and the Professor Isa Pantami Foundation for the gesture, describing it as timely and meaningful, particularly during the Maulud period.

They commended the Foundation for remembering religious institutions and communities and urged other individuals and organisations with the capacity to do so to emulate the gesture by supporting vulnerable people and institutions within society.

The Foundation said the Maulud intervention forms part of its broader commitment to promoting a culture of giving, service and shared responsibility, while contributing to the welfare of communities across Gombe State.

It added that beyond the immediate value of the food items and gifts, the initiative was intended to reinforce the message that religious celebrations can also serve as platforms for compassion, community support and practical acts of kindness.

The distribution, therefore, represents a significant humanitarian gesture aimed at putting the values of generosity and communal solidarity into practice while supporting Islamic educational institutions and communities during the 2026 Maulud celebration.

BILLIRI WEST LCDA, Gombe State, The Executive Chairman of Billiri West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Elder Yila Maidawa, has pledged his administration’s full support for Tangalewood Movie Production, describing the emerging film industry as a powerful platform for preserving Tangale culture, promoting local identity and creating opportunities for young people.

Hon. Maidawa made the commitment on Monday when the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tangalewood Movie Production, Mr. Muazu Garba, paid him a courtesy visit at his office.

The chairman commended Tangalewood for using filmmaking to promote Tangale traditions and urged the company to remain committed to producing films that accurately portray the history, culture and values of the Tangale people.

He also encouraged the company to deliberately involve young people in its productions, saying the creative industry could help discover talents, develop skills and create sustainable means of livelihood for youths.

«“The film industry is more than entertainment; it is a platform for telling our own stories and preserving what makes us who we are. I encourage you to continue using your craft to project our culture and involve our young people so they can develop skills and talents that will benefit them and society,” Maidawa said.»

The chairman further linked the establishment of the LCDA to the vision of bringing governance closer to the people and creating opportunities for communities, particularly youths, to improve their livelihoods.

He advised Tangalewood to always consult authentic historical sources and cultural custodians before producing films based on Tangale history and tradition, stressing that inaccurate portrayals could distort the history being passed on to future generations.

«“We must not allow our history to be misrepresented or lost. Always get the true story of our culture so that our younger generation will have something genuine to learn from,” he added.»

Responding, the Managing Director of Tangalewood Movie Production, Mr. Muazu Garba, thanked the chairman for the warm reception, encouragement and support.

Mr. Garba assured the chairman that Tangalewood would adhere to his advice and remain committed to promoting the Tangale narrative with professionalism, accuracy and integrity.

He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his development initiatives across the state, particularly the creation of Local Council Development Areas, which, he said, had opened new opportunities for communities and brought governance closer to the people.

Garba specifically commended Hon. Elder Yila Maidawa as the pioneer Executive Chairman of Billiri West LCDA and pledged the continued support of Tangalewood for initiatives that promote the development of Gombe State.

The Tangalewood boss also disclosed that production of the much-anticipated movie, “LAU PINUN SORI,” is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed by September 2026.

The meeting was described as a significant boost to the creative industry in Billiri West and a strong indication of the council’s readiness to support homegrown initiatives that preserve cultural heritage, promote local talent and empower young people.

Dr. Jamilu Ishaqa Gwamna, popularly known as Sardaunan Gombe, has donated over ₦22 million in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) renewed membership registration exercise across Gombe State, in a major show of loyalty and commitment to the party.

The donation was made during a courtesy visit to the APC State Secretariat in Gombe, where Dr. Gwamna presented ₦10 million to the state party office. In addition, he donated ₦1 million each to the 11 Local Government Areas of the state, amounting to ₦11 million, and another ₦1 million to his ward in Jekadafari, Gombe, bringing the total donation to over ₦22 million.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Gwamna said the gesture was part of his personal contribution towards ensuring the success of the APC at all levels, particularly the smooth and successful conduct of the renewed membership registration exercise. He called on party members and supporters to actively participate in the registration process, stressing that a strong membership base is key to the party’s growth and electoral success.

He further reaffirmed his unwavering support for the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging continuous loyalty and commitment to the ideals and leadership of the APC.

The APC State Chairman, Mr. Nitte Amangal, alongside other members of the State Executive Committee, received Dr. Gwamna at the party secretariat.
