Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, a renowned businessman and philanthropist, on Tuesday attended the funeral prayers of deceased Gombe journalists at the Emir’s Palace, Gombe, where he offered prayers for the repose of their souls and strength for their families to bear the irreparable loss.

After the funeral prayers, Hamma Saleh formally condoled with the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Chapter, over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of seven journalists.

The fatal accident occurred when a vehicle conveying eleven (11) passengers— all members of the NUJ, most of whom were staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Gombe— was returning from Kaltungo. Reports indicate that the left rear tyre of the vehicle burst while in motion, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle subsequently somersaulted into a nearby bush.

Four persons, including the driver, sustained varying degrees of injuries. Those injured are:

1. Jonathan Bara

2. Stephen Dodo

3. Nina Gadam

4. Obe Emmanuel Akila (male), aged 50

The injured victims were treated and later referred to the Specialist Hospital for further medical attention.

Tragically, seven passengers lost their lives in the accident. The deceased are:

1. Jibrin Tabra

2. Manu Haruna Kwami

3. Zara Umar Adamu

4. Aminu Muhammad

5. Isah Lawal

6. Adam Snu

7. Judith Snu

In his condolence message, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh expressed deep sorrow over the devastating incident, describing it as a huge loss not only to the families of the deceased but also to the media industry and Gombe State at large. He commiserated with the bereaved families, the management and staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Gombe, the NUJ Gombe State Chapter, and all those affected by the tragedy.

Responding on behalf of the union, the Chairman of NUJ Gombe State Chapter, Comrade Faruk Mu’azu Gombe, thanked Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh for the visit, prayers, and show of solidarity. He described the gesture as a mark of compassion and support at a very difficult time for journalists in the state.

The tragic incident has continued to attract widespread condolences from individuals and organizations, as colleagues, friends, and the public mourn the fallen journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Prominent Gombe community leader, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Alhaji Sani Yusuf Ma’aji, a respected leader of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Gombe Local Government Area and Chairman of the IZALAH branch at Jekadafari Quarters, Gombe State.

The late Alhaji Sani Yusuf, who passed away recently after a prolonged illness, was aged 83. He was known for his unwavering dedication to Islamic teachings, community service, and moral guidance. The cleric left behind 13 children and over 150 grandchildren. He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

During the visit, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the deceased as a humble scholar and a pillar of unity within the IZALAH movement and the wider Muslim Ummah in Gombe. He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late cleric, show him mercy, and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi as his eternal abode.

While receiving the delegation, Malam Muhammad Sagir Sani Yusuf, son of the late cleric, expressed profound gratitude to Alhaji Hamma Saleh for standing by the family during their period of mourning. He noted that the visit was a great source of comfort and encouragement to the bereaved family.

Malam Sagir described his late father as a man who devoted his entire life to the propagation of Islam, peace, and moral discipline, adding that the family takes solace in the impactful and exemplary life he lived.

The condolence visit was attended by family members, friends, and members of the IZALAH organization, who offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul.

The death of Alhaji Sani Yusuf Ma’aji is widely regarded as a great loss to the Islamic community in Gombe and beyond.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh Dokajin Nafada has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of late Sheikh Kabir Ismail, who recently passed away at Jekadafari Quarters in Gombe, Gombe State.

During the condolence visit, Hamma Saleh described Sheikh Kabir Ismail as a devoted Islamic scholar whose contributions to the teaching and propagation of Islamic knowledge will forever be remembered.

He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Allah, reminding them that death is a divine decree that every soul must taste.

“His role in guiding students and shaping the younger generation through Islamic knowledge will never be forgotten. We pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljannatul Firdausi,” Hamma Saleh said.

He further prayed for strength and patience for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

The late Sheikh Kabir Ismail was widely respected in Gombe and beyond for his dedication to teaching and his impact on the spiritual and moral lives of many.
