The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Gombe State House of Assembly representing Yamaltu East Constituency, Sulaiman Dahiru Sulaiman (Kalo), has distributed 300 bags of fertiliser to farmers in the constituency as part of efforts to support agricultural production and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.

The distribution exercise, held in Dadin Kowa, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, attracted farmers, community members, APC leaders, supporters and other stakeholders from across the constituency.

Speaking during the event, Sulaiman said the initiative was aimed at supporting farmers and complementing the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Gombe State Governor in strengthening agriculture, enhancing food production and improving the living conditions of the people.

He described the intervention as the beginning of a broader commitment to supporting farmers, assuring the beneficiaries that similar initiatives would be sustained.

Sulaiman also called on the people of Yamaltu East to continue supporting the APC at all levels, saying such support would enable the party to deliver more democratic dividends to the people.

The APC Chairman of Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, Adamu Lambam, commended Sulaiman Kalo for the initiative, describing the fertiliser distribution as timely, particularly at a period when farmers require greater support to boost agricultural output.

He urged the candidate to sustain the gesture and continue contributing to the development of Yamaltu-Deba and the wider constituency.

Also speaking, the guest speaker, Honourable Safiyanu Hassan, praised Sulaiman for his support to farmers and called for unity among the people of Yamaltu East ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Some beneficiaries, including Abdullahi Ibrahim and Hauwa Hassan, expressed appreciation to the candidate on behalf of the beneficiaries, saying the fertiliser would help improve their farming activities and increase productivity.

They also pledged their support for the APC at all levels.

The event was attended by prominent APC leaders and stakeholders, including Dr. Sani Sabo and Alhaji Garba Usman, former Chairman of Yamaltu-Deba Local Government, among other party leaders from Yamaltu-Deba and across Gombe State.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and expressed confidence in the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation has distributed food items and other relief materials worth more than ₦150 million to over 300 Tsangayas, Zawiyyas, Islamic associations and prominent personalities across Gombe State as part of activities commemorating the 2026 Maulud celebration.

The wide-ranging humanitarian intervention, which reached beneficiaries across different parts of the state, is aimed at supporting religious institutions and communities while promoting the spirit of generosity, compassion, solidarity and service associated with the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Among the items distributed were more than 500 bags of 50-kilogramme rice, 462 cartons of spaghetti, 150 packs of bottled water and 500 bags of sachet water.

The Foundation said the distribution was deliberately extended to Tsangayas and Zawiyyas because of their important roles in Islamic education, scholarship and spiritual development, as well as their contribution to the preservation and transmission of religious knowledge.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, representatives of the Foundation, including Malam Usman Gurama, Dr Abubakar Saidu (Dr Yagi), Alhaji Abubakar Walama Sarkin Malaman Gombe and Alhaji Hassan Dan Amar Din Gombe, said the initiative was inspired by the values of compassion, sharing and care for others associated with the Maulud celebration.

They explained that the gesture was not merely about distributing food items, but also about strengthening bonds within communities and supporting institutions and individuals who contribute to religious learning, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.

According to them, Maulud provides an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his emphasis on kindness, generosity, brotherhood and concern for the less privileged.

A members of the distribution committee, Bashir Shuaibu Umar, alongside Malam Ahmad Mandy Abubakar and Muhammad Sulaiman Muhammad, popularly known as Abba Jekadafari, said the intervention reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting religious and educational institutions and providing humanitarian assistance to communities across Gombe State.

They noted that Tsangayas and Zawiyyas remain important centres of Islamic learning and have continued to play a significant role in producing scholars and transmitting religious knowledge from one generation to another.

The committee members also stressed the importance of supporting religious and community leaders, noting that their contributions remain vital to promoting peaceful coexistence, moral values and unity among members of society.

The distribution covered beneficiaries drawn from different communities and institutions across the state, in what the organisers described as an effort to ensure that the impact of the intervention was not restricted to a particular locality.

Some beneficiaries who received the items expressed appreciation to Professor Isa Ali Pantami and the Professor Isa Pantami Foundation for the gesture, describing it as timely and meaningful, particularly during the Maulud period.

They commended the Foundation for remembering religious institutions and communities and urged other individuals and organisations with the capacity to do so to emulate the gesture by supporting vulnerable people and institutions within society.

The Foundation said the Maulud intervention forms part of its broader commitment to promoting a culture of giving, service and shared responsibility, while contributing to the welfare of communities across Gombe State.

It added that beyond the immediate value of the food items and gifts, the initiative was intended to reinforce the message that religious celebrations can also serve as platforms for compassion, community support and practical acts of kindness.

The distribution, therefore, represents a significant humanitarian gesture aimed at putting the values of generosity and communal solidarity into practice while supporting Islamic educational institutions and communities during the 2026 Maulud celebration.

A humanitarian organisation, Dangin Juna Afrika Initiative (DJAI), has donated food items and cash assistance to 120 vulnerable and less privileged persons across Fika and Potiskum Emirates in Yobe State, as part of activities marking its 10th anniversary.

Speaking during the distribution at the Fika Emirate Council, DJAI National Chairman, QS Usman BK, said the gesture was aimed at easing the economic hardship faced by the poor and encouraging a culture of compassion and collective support among members.

He explained that members of the organisation contribute monthly to sustain the initiative, with additional donations made during annual outreach programmes.

Usman expressed appreciation to the Emirs of Fika and Potiskum, for their continued encouragement and support for humanitarian activities.

Representing the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, the Chokalin Fika, commended DJAI for its timely intervention, noting that the support came at a period when many families were struggling to meet their basic needs.

He called on other individuals and groups to emulate the organisation’s efforts in supporting the needy.

Similarly, the Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya (CON), lauded DJAI for including his emirate among the beneficiaries and urged recipients to make good use of the items rather than sell them.

The distributed relief items included 7kg bags of rice, spaghetti, and cash support for selected beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries across the two emirates expressed gratitude to DJAI and prayed for the continued success of the initiative.

As part of the anniversary activities, DJAI also presented awards to its top-performing state chapters. Katsina State emerged as the best in monthly dues payment, while Gombe State received recognition for the highest charity contribution, donating nearly ₦500,000 in support of the initiative’s humanitarian outreach.
