The Gombe State University (GSU) Alumni Association has congratulated Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta on his confirmation as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution by its Visitor, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Dan Majen Gombe).
In a statement, the National President of the association, Malam Buhari Magaji, PhD, described Professor Yauta’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding leadership qualities, academic pedigree, and proven dedication to the growth of the university.
“Professor Yauta has, over the years, demonstrated remarkable vision and commitment to advancing academic excellence, research innovation, and institutional development. His elevation as Vice Chancellor is not only a personal achievement but also a significant milestone for the entire GSU community,” Malam Magaji said.
The Alumni Association expressed confidence that under Professor Yauta’s leadership, the university will experience greater transformation in research, teaching, innovation, and infrastructure. It further pledged its unwavering support to ensure his administration succeeds.
Stakeholders within and outside the university have also welcomed the appointment. Youth O’Clock Nigeria and Gombe State Chanter, in separate congratulatory messages, prayed for wisdom, strength, and success for the new Vice Chancellor as he assumes full responsibility.
Professor Yauta, who previously served as Director of Academic Planning and later Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), is widely credited for playing a pivotal role in shaping policies that have elevated GSU’s standing in Nigeria’s higher education landscape. As Acting Vice Chancellor, he introduced initiatives aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and improving academic standards.
His vision for the university includes policies and infrastructural improvements that will not only expand access to quality education but also enhance support for persons with disabilities on campus, thereby making GSU a more inclusive institution.
Malam Magaji, on behalf of the alumni, expressed optimism that Professor Yauta’s tenure will be marked by unity, groundbreaking achievements, and prosperity for the university.
“On this historic occasion, we reaffirm our loyalty and support to Professor Yauta as he takes Gombe State University to greater heights,” the statement added.
Professor Yauta’s appointment signals a new chapter for the institution, with hopes high among students, staff, and alumni that his leadership will consolidate GSU’s place as a center of excellence in the North-East and beyond.

The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum (ACYLF) has showered glowing tributes on Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari following his successful completion of a Master of Science degree in Finance and Investment Management from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message signed by its National Chairman, Dunijir Gatama, the youth forum described the academic achievement as a “deeply inspiring milestone” that underscores Senator Yari’s unwavering commitment to personal development and intellectual excellence—even at the peak of his political career.
“This academic milestone is not only commendable but deeply inspiring—demonstrating once again that leadership goes beyond political participation; it encompasses personal growth, intellectual pursuit, and a commitment to excellence,” ACYLF stated.
Senator Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and current member of the Nigerian Senate, was praised for serving as a model of lifelong learning to the youth, especially in Northern Nigeria. The forum emphasized that his academic pursuit sends a powerful message to young people and political leaders alike—that education is a tool for empowerment and should not be sidelined for the trappings of power.
“Through this accomplishment, you have reaffirmed that public leaders must lead not only with power, but also with wisdom and humility,” the statement read.
ACYLF, a non-partisan youth platform dedicated to raising leaders across ethnic and religious divides, particularly lauded Senator Yari’s history of inclusive leadership. The group highlighted his consistent support for human capital development, irrespective of tribe, faith, or political alignment.
“Your generosity of spirit and inclusive approach to leadership have made you a unifying force and a transformational figure across the region,” it noted.
The statement went further to express hope that the senator’s achievement will spur other public servants and aspiring leaders to prioritize continuous self-development as a path to national growth and responsible governance.
Senator Yari’s enrollment and graduation from one of the United Kingdom’s top-ranked universities, while serving in high public office, is already generating commendations from various sectors. Observers say it reflects a growing trend of Nigerian leaders embracing academic advancement to sharpen their leadership competence.
ACYLF concluded its message with a prayer for continued wisdom and strength for the senator as he continues to serve Nigeria and humanity at large.
“Once again, congratulations, Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari. The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum stands proud with you and prays for continued wisdom, strength, and greater exploits in your service to Nigeria and humanity,” the group said.
Senator Yari is yet to publicly react to the congratulatory message as of press time. However, insiders say he remains committed to youth empowerment, educational advocacy, and inclusive governance—principles that are gaining him increasing admiration across Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
