Justify Your Promotion, FRSC Tells Newly Decorated Officers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reminded its newly promoted officers in Gombe State that their new ranks come with added responsibilities which must be justified through greater dedication and accountability.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in Gombe, Mr. Samson Kaura, gave the charge on Thursday during the decoration ceremony of the promoted officers at the command’s headquarters in Lafiyawo community, Akko Local Government Area.

Kaura noted that elevation in rank comes with greater authority and opportunities, but also demands more responsibility. He urged the officers to learn their new roles, work harder, and remain committed to duty so as to earn more promotions in the future.

> “I call on the newly decorated officers to see their elevation as part of the trust that the Corps Marshal has on you, which you must justify. Promotion comes with added responsibility and therefore requires you to be more productive in saving lives, ensuring road safety, and remaining focused on the mission of the Corps,” he said.

The commander commended the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for improving staff welfare through various initiatives, including the promotion exercise. According to him, promotion is one of the six cardinal policy thrusts of the Corps Marshal, aimed at boosting the morale and welfare of personnel nationwide.

Kaura explained that the promotion would encourage officers to put in more effort towards achieving the vision and mission of the FRSC, translating into improved performance, saving of lives, and reduction of road crashes.

He further advised officers who were not promoted not to lose hope, assuring them that promotion is a continuous process.

> “Everyone’s day cannot come at once; it is turn-by-turn to reward diligence and hard work. Keep giving your best, and your time will surely come,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated junior officers, Mr. Shallmbila Samson, who was elevated from Deputy Chief Inspector to Chief Inspector, expressed appreciation to the Corps Marshal and the Sector Commander. He assured that with their new ranks, he and his colleagues were motivated to work harder, uphold integrity, and maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Our Correspondent reports that a total of 40 officers, comprising 36 junior officers and four senior officers, were promoted and decorated at the ceremony.

301 Artillery Regiment Decorates Newly Promoted Soldiers

In a ceremonial event filled with pride and gratitude, the 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) under the command of Colonel Abubakar Mohammed Mohammed, decorated its newly promoted soldiers with their badges of rank.

The ceremony, held today, November 18, 2024, at the regiment’s training hall, marked a significant milestone for the soldiers who advanced in their careers following diligent service and exemplary conduct.

A total of 25 soldiers were promoted, ranging from the rank of private to warrant officer. Among the promoted were:
– Seven (7) Staff Sergeants elevated to Warrant Officers.
– One (1) Sergeant promoted to Staff Sergeant.
– Three (3) Bombardiers raised to Sergeants.
– Ten (10) Lance Bombardiers advanced to Bombardiers.
– Four (4) Gunners promoted to Lance Bombardiers.

These promotions followed the successful completion of requisite military and civil courses and received approval from the Chief of Army Staff.

During the ceremony, the Commander, Colonel A.M. Mohammed, congratulated the soldiers and emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and adherence to the Nigerian Army’s core values of loyalty, discipline, and integrity.

“This promotion is not just a reward but a call to higher responsibility. Strive to be disciplined and worthy ambassadors of the Nigerian Army,” he stated.

Adding to the Commander’s remarks, the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Army Warrant Officer Bello Usman, advised the soldiers to approach their duties with renewed commitment and to maintain a positive image of the military.

He also encouraged them to balance their professional responsibilities with family obligations.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted soldiers, Warrant Officer Mohammed Kabiru expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the recognition and pledged to uphold the trust placed in them.

He also acknowledged the support of the Commander and other officers, vowing to excel in their duties and remain exemplary in their service.

The ceremony witnessed an impressive turnout of military officers, soldiers’ families, invited guests, and well-wishers.

Highlights included the decoration of the soldiers, motivational speeches, and group photographs to mark the occasion.

Captain Mazinho Attah, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 301 Artillery Regiment, described the event as a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fostering growth and excellence among its personnel.

With their new ranks, the promoted soldiers are set to take on greater responsibilities and further their contributions to the Nigerian Army’s mission to protect and serve the nation.
