Village Head of Gabukka Turbans Alhaji Hassan Adamu as New “Sallaman Gabukka”

In a colourful traditional ceremony held in Gabukka, Gombe Local Government Area, the District Head of Gabukka, Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi, has turbaned Alhaji Hassan Adamu as the new Sallaman Gabukka, marking his official induction into the Gabukka traditional council.
The event, attended by community leaders, family members, friends, and well-wishers, showcased the rich cultural heritage and deep respect for traditional institutions in Gombe State. The ceremony featured cultural displays, prayers, and goodwill messages from dignitaries across the state.
While presenting the turban, the Village Head, Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi, described the appointment of Alhaji Hassan Adamu as well-deserved, noting his long-standing contributions to community development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian service in the area.
He urged the new Sallama to uphold the values of honesty, fairness, and service to humanity, adding that traditional titles in Gabukka are bestowed only on individuals with proven integrity and commitment to the welfare of the people.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Hassan Adamu expressed deep gratitude to the Village Head and the entire Gabukka Emirate Council for finding him worthy of the honour. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by supporting the council’s efforts toward promoting unity, progress, and cultural preservation.
The event drew prominent personalities from within and outside Gombe, including traditional titleholders, political leaders, and youth representatives, all of whom commended the District Head for recognizing Alhaji Hassan Adamu’s exemplary character and community service.
The new Sallaman Gabukka’s turbaning is seen as a step toward strengthening traditional governance and enhancing community participation in local development initiatives across Gombe State.

Emir of Funakaye Confers Prestigious Traditional Title on Dr. Isiyaku Ibrahim Babayo

The Emir of Funakaye, Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga, has appointed Dr. Isiyaku Ibrahim Babayo, popularly known as “Teacher,” as the Makama Babban Cikin Gida of Funakaye, marking a significant recognition of his service, integrity, and contributions to the community.

The appointment letter was formally presented to Dr. Babayo by the Sarkin Fadan Funakaye during a brief but colourful ceremony held at his residence in Gombe.

In his remarks, Dr. Babayo expressed deep appreciation to the Emir for finding him worthy of the revered title. He described the honour as a call to greater responsibility and pledged to continue supporting the palace, the Funakaye Emirate, and the development of the entire community.

“I am humbled and grateful to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Funakaye, for this important traditional role. I accept it with full sense of duty, commitment, and gratitude,” he said.

The ceremony drew thousands of well-wishers, including senior government officials, commissioners, special advisers, personal assistants, associates, friends, and family members. The gathering was filled with cheers, prayers, and displays of cultural pride as supporters celebrated the new Makama Babban Cikin Gida.

Attendees described the honour as well-deserved, noting Dr. Babayo’s long-standing record in community development, educational support, and service to humanity.

The District Head of Shongom, His Royal Highness Mr Dahiru Alfayo Yusuf, has conferred the traditional title of Jakadan Shongom upon Mr. Osu Etemu Omowoma in recognition of his distinguished service, integrity, and contribution to the development of society.
The colourful turbaning ceremony, held at the Royal Palace in Shongom, brought together community leaders, friends, associates, and well wishers who gathered to celebrate the honour bestowed on Mr. Omowoma a respected professional and Senior Manager with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Gombe Branch.
Speaking during the event, guests described the new Jakadan Shongom as a man of humility, hard work, and character whose professional excellence and community service have earned him the admiration of many.
The ceremony, chaired by a close friend and senior colleague, expressed the chairman’s delight and gratitude to the royal palace for the privilege of presiding over such a culturally significant event.
He noted that the honour reflects not only personal achievement but also the timeless value of traditional institutions in recognising service and promoting unity.
In his remarks, Mr. Omowoma expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness for the rare honour, pledging to continue upholding the dignity and responsibilities that come with the title.

Mai Kaltungo Honours Dr. Barnabas Malle with Traditional Title of Shawarin Kaltungo

The Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammad, has conferred the traditional title of Shawarin Kaltungo on Dr. Barnabas Malle, the Gombe State Commissioner for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperatives.

The presentation of the letter of conferment took place at Dr. Malle’s office in Gombe, where a delegation from the Kaltungo Chiefdom, led by the Sa’in Kaltungo, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, and Chika Soron Kaltungo, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, formally presented the title on behalf of the Emir.

Speaking during the presentation, the delegation said the honour was in recognition of Dr. Malle’s commitment, humility, support, and selfless service toward the progress and development of Kaltungo Chiefdom.

They described the conferment as well-deserved and urged Dr. Malle to continue demonstrating the same spirit of dedication and community service that earned him the honour.

Speaking on behalf of the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperatives, as well as the family of the new Shawarin Kaltungo, the Overseeing Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Mohammed Dahiru Bajoga, and the Chairman of the Kamo Community Development Association, Malam Umar Ishiaku, expressed gratitude to the Mai Kaltungo for the recognition.
They described the honour as a collective success for Dr. Malle’s immediate family and the entire ministry.

Also speaking, Mr. Jonathan Bulus and Usman Abubakar Wawa said the conferment did not come as a surprise, given Dr. Malle’s hard work, dedication, and selfless service to the public. They called on others to emulate his example.

In his response, the new Shawarin Kaltungo, Dr. Barnabas Malle, expressed profound appreciation to the Mai Kaltungo for the honour, describing it as one of the proudest moments of his career.

He dedicated the title to the Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his continuous support and quality leadership, which, according to him, have made many of his achievements possible.
Dr. Malle pledged to redouble his efforts toward the development of Kaltungo Chiefdom and Gombe State as a whole.
