Prominent political and community leaders from Gombe State were among dignitaries who attended the wedding ceremony of Maryam Muhammad Gidado and her husband, Yakubu Muhammad, held in Abuja.

Those present at the event included former Governor of Gombe State and Senator representing Gombe Central, Senator Danjuma Goje; the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya; Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali; and Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, alongside other well-wishers.

The bride, Maryam, is the daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Gidado Babawo, the Danrimin Dukku, a respected community leader in Gombe State.

The solemnisation of the marriage took place at the National JIBWIS Mosque in Utako, Abuja, where family members, friends, and associates gathered to witness the union and offer prayers for the couple.

Clerics at the ceremony prayed for peace, love, and prosperity in the new home, asking Allah to bless the marriage with harmony and righteous offspring.

The event also provided an opportunity for social interaction among political stakeholders and community leaders, reflecting the strong bonds within the Gombe community both at home and in the diaspora.

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has renewed his membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the ruling party amid ongoing nationwide registration activities.

Pantami completed the membership renewal in his ward in Gombe metropolis, describing the move as part of his responsibility to support party growth and grassroots political participation.

The exercise underscored his continued influence within the APC structure, where he is widely regarded as a key figure both in Gombe State and at the national level. Party officials present noted that the renewal demonstrates dedication to strengthening party unity and institutional stability.

Following the registration, the former minister visited the APC State Secretariat and the party office in Gombe Local Government Area. The visit drew a large crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome him and express solidarity.

Speaking during the engagement, Pantami called on members to remain committed to the ideals of the party and actively participate in its programmes. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in building a stronger political platform capable of delivering development and good governance.

Alhaji Zubairu Muaz’u (mni), a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and former Special Adviser on Security to the Executive Governor of Gombe State, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Alh. Zubairu Muaz’u, who also holds the traditional title of Uban Doman Gombe, announced his decision after what he described as wide consultations and a careful assessment of the party’s ideology, vision and political direction.

Speaking during his formal declaration, Muaz’u expressed strong confidence in the ADC’s capacity to offer credible leadership and a viable political alternative for the people of Gombe State. He said his decision was driven by the party’s commitment to good governance, inclusiveness and sustainable development.

“I have taken time to consult widely and study the direction of the African Democratic Congress. I am convinced that the party has the potential to deliver purposeful leadership and meaningful change in Gombe State,” he stated.

The former police chief pledged his total loyalty and support to the ADC, assuring party leaders and members of his readiness to work diligently for the party’s success. He further affirmed his commitment to strengthening the party’s structures across the state, drawing from his vast experience in security management, leadership and public service.

Reacting to the development, the leadership of the ADC in Gombe State warmly welcomed Alh. Zubairu Muaz’u into the party, describing his defection as a strategic gain.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Maigoro said the ADC was delighted by the decision of the former AIG to join its ranks, describing him as a valuable asset.

“We are thrilled to have Alhaji Zubairu Muaz’u join our fold. His wealth of experience, leadership capacity and credibility will undoubtedly strengthen our party and enhance our service delivery to the people of Gombe State,” Maigoro said.

He added that the party holds the former security chief in high esteem and is honoured by his decision to align with the ADC, expressing optimism that his presence would further reposition the party ahead of future political engagements in the state.
