The political landscape of Gombe North Senatorial District has taken a dramatic turn following the emergence of Hon. Mustapha Aliyu as the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Aliyu secured the party’s ticket amid growing interest in the senatorial race, positioning himself for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest involving some of the state’s most influential political figures.

In his acceptance speech after the primaries, Aliyu declared confidence in his ability to defeat two major contenders—former Governor and current Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is expected to represent the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the race.

He described his emergence as a mandate to offer credible leadership and pledged to bring what he called the “dividends of democracy” to the people of Gombe North if elected in 2027.

According to him, his campaign will focus on improving governance, strengthening democratic participation, and addressing the socio-economic challenges facing communities across the senatorial district.

Political observers say the development signals an early build-up to one of the most closely watched senatorial contests in Gombe State, as heavyweight candidates from the three major parties prepare for a fierce electoral showdown.

With his emergence, Hon. Mustapha Aliyu has officially entered a high-stakes political battle that is expected to shape the future political direction of Gombe North ahead of the 2027 elections.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State has announced Alhaji Dr. Bala Bello Tinka as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general election after emerging victorious in the party’s primary election conducted across the 11 local government areas of the state.

The Returning Officer of the election, Professor David Agbu, announced the results in Gombe, declaring Dr. Bala Bello Tinka as the duly elected governorship candidate of the ADC.

According to the results released by the party, Dr. Tinka defeated his opponent, Engineer Adamu Muhammad Ma’aji Dokajin Tula, with a wide margin.

The breakdown of the results from the 11 local government areas showed that:

In Balanga LGA, Dr. Bala Bello Tinka scored 9,530 votes, while Engineer Dokajin Tula secured 729 votes.

In Dukku LGA, Tinka polled 6,900 votes against Dokajin Tula’s 71 votes.

In Akko LGA, Tinka recorded 13,785 votes, while Dokajin Tula got 117 votes.

In Billiri LGA, Tinka scored 8,569 votes, while Dokajin Tula received 601 votes.

In Kaltungo LGA, Tinka secured 4,534 votes, while Dokajin Tula polled 4,059 votes.

In Kwami LGA, Tinka garnered 10,124 votes against Dokajin Tula’s 64 votes.

In Shongom LGA, Tinka scored 6,158 votes, while Dokajin Tula received 406 votes.

In Funakaye LGA, Tinka polled 8,480 votes against 99 votes recorded by Dokajin Tula.

In Nafada LGA, Tinka secured 5,488 votes, while Dokajin Tula got 153 votes.

In Gombe LGA, Tinka recorded 19,242 votes, while Dokajin Tula polled 51 votes.

In Yamaltu/Deba LGA, Tinka scored 10,943 votes, while Dokajin Tula secured 94 votes.

At the end of the collation, Dr. Bala Bello Tinka emerged with a total of 104,086 votes, while Engineer Adamu Muhammad Ma’aji Dokajin Tula secured a total of 6,443 votes.

The party also announced other aspirants who emerged during the primaries, including Dr. Mustapha Aliyu as the ADC senatorial aspirant for Gombe North and Senator Idris Abdullahi Umar for Gombe Central Senatorial District.

In addition, the party unveiled six House of Representatives aspirants and 24 aspirants for the State House of Assembly elections ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking with journalists shortly after emerging as the ADC senatorial aspirant for Gombe North, Dr. Mustapha Aliyu expressed confidence that the party would record a landslide victory in the 2027 general election.

He pledged to work tirelessly with other party candidates and supporters to ensure the ADC takes over leadership in the state through massive grassroots mobilization and unity among party members.

Residents of Kutare community in Mona Ward of Balanga Local Government Area, Gombe State, have expressed joy following the commissioning of a newly constructed solar-powered borehole facilitated by Hon. Alfred John Attajiri as part of efforts to improve access to clean and safe drinking water in rural communities.

The project, commissioned on Saturday, marks the third solar-powered borehole delivered by the lawmaker for communities within the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Attajiri said the intervention was aimed at addressing the long-standing water challenges facing the people, particularly women, children, and the elderly who often bear the burden of water scarcity.

He noted that access to potable water remains one of the most important foundations for healthy living and sustainable community development, stressing that the project reflects his commitment to practical and people-oriented initiatives capable of improving the lives of ordinary citizens.

According to him, many families in Kutare and surrounding communities have struggled for years to access clean water, a situation that has negatively affected sanitation, health conditions, and economic activities in the area.

“With this solar-powered borehole, we hope to ease the suffering of the people and contribute meaningfully to their wellbeing. This intervention is not just about water supply, but about restoring dignity and improving the quality of life of our people,” he stated.

Hon. Attajiri further explained that the project aligns with his broader vision of grassroots development where communities are not neglected and leadership is measured by direct impact on the lives of the people.
