Northern Governors’ Forum Mourns Ondo Governor, Akeredolu
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ondo State over the demise of Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) who passed away today after a protracted illness.
Inuwa Yahaya, on behalf of the 19 northern governors, mourned the loss of ” a senior figure, friend, resilient advocate, and a visionary leader whose attributes of excellence and remarkable brilliance positively influenced the transformation of Ondo State and contributed to the development of the country “.
The Northern Governors Forum also acknowledged late Akeredolu’s influential roles in various spheres, and his legacies as a lawyer, former Attorney General, NBA President as well as his leadership roles in regional organizations including serving as chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and the Southern Governors’ Forum.
“We mourn the loss of our dear brother and friend, Governor Akeredolu. This is indeed an national loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Excellency, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the entire immediate family members, the Owo community, and the people of Ondo State over this monumental loss “.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya prayed Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort those he left behind.

Hamma Saleh to Supporters: Ignore Fake News, I Stand Firm in PDP

The Governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, has strongly dismissed circulating rumors on social media alleging that he has defected to another political party, describing the claims as false, misleading, and the handiwork of political opponents.
In a firm response aimed at setting the record straight, Hamma Saleh reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the PDP, stressing that he remains a founding and committed member of the party and has no intention of leaving.
According to him, the rumors are deliberately fabricated to distract his supporters and create confusion within his political structure ahead of future political engagements.
> “We are the pioneers of PDP. I have not defected to any political party. I remain, and will continue to remain, a bonafide member of the PDP,” he stated.
He further called on his supporters across Gombe State to disregard the misinformation being circulated online, urging them not to be distracted by what he described as “lies sponsored by enemies of progress.”
Hamma Saleh emphasized that his focus remains on strengthening the PDP and contributing to its success in the state, insisting that his political commitment to the party is intact and unshaken.
He also reassured his supporters that he is fully engaged in efforts aimed at consolidating unity within the party and preparing for future political contests under the PDP platform.
The clarification comes amid rising political speculation and social media narratives surrounding party affiliations of key political figures in Gombe State as the political atmosphere gradually builds toward the next election cycle.
With this statement, Hamma Saleh has sought to put an end to the defection rumors, reaffirming his position within the PDP and calling for unity among his supporters.

GSU Alumni Association Inaugurates Key Committees, Reaffirms Commitment to Development

The Gombe State University (GSU) Alumni Association has inaugurated several strategic committees aimed at strengthening alumni engagement and accelerating institutional development.
Speaking at the colorful inauguration ceremony held at the university, the National President of the association, Dr. Buhari Magaji, popularly known as Masanin Funakaye, said the committee members were carefully selected based on their outstanding contributions in various spheres of human endeavor as proud alumni of the university.
> “These appointments were made after careful consideration. Each member has demonstrated leadership and dedication in their respective fields. We believe their expertise and commitment will add immense value to the vision of the alumni association,” Dr. Magaji stated.
He called on all committee members to work collaboratively for the progress of the alumni body and the university at large, emphasizing that unity, commitment, and strategic action were crucial to achieving their collective goals.
Dr. Magaji also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the entire alumni community for re-electing him for a second tenure as National President.
> “This renewed mandate is not taken lightly. We are ready and determined to move the association forward and support meaningful projects that will benefit Gombe State University and its students,” he said.

The inauguration drew attendance from several committee chairpersons, including Dr. Benjamin Maina, Dr. Usman Adamu Abubakar, Abdulaziz Sani Labaran, and Muhammad Kabir.
Speaking on behalf of all committee chairmen and members, Dr. Benjamin Maina pledged total commitment to the tasks ahead.
> “We are honored by the trust placed in us. We promise to work as a unified team, driven by a shared passion to achieve the association’s goals and uplift Gombe State University,” he said.
The inauguration marks a new chapter for the GSU Alumni Association, as it seeks to play a more prominent role in institutional development, mentorship, alumni networking, and community engagement.

Arewa group mourns billionnaire philanthropist, Aminu Dantata

Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned business magnate and billionnaire philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who died at the age of 94.
The group in a condolence message signed by Comrade Sagir Wada Mai Iyali, the Kano State chairman of the group, on behalf of all the members, described the death of the Kano-born industrialist as a huge, and irreplaceable national loss.
Iyali said that Dantata was a true nationalist and a philanthropist per excellence who empowered countless Nigerians, inspiring them to greatness.
According to him, his life was lived for humanity and the evidence of that impact lives amongst the people he left behind.
“The fact that every media space is filled with condolence messages for the business icon showed how impactful his life was on earth.”
The chairman urged the youth and leaders from the North and Nigeria to carefully examine the life and times of Dantata towards creating an environment where many would be empowered out of poverty so that Nigeria could be a better place for us all.
“We will immensely miss his business prowess and philanthropic gestures, however we are consoled by the fact that his legacies have help shaped the federation called Nigeria, this is a memory property we would hold dear to our minds,” he said.
